Sneeboer Planting Trowel Old Dutch Style – 27cm Ash Handle
Known also as Monty Don’s favourite trowel, this popular Sneeboer Old Dutch Style Planting Trowel with a 27cm ash handle is a proven best-seller with real heritage behind it.
The design dates back to the early 20th century and has long been used for planting bulbs, seedlings and small plants with speed and precision. The sharp, pointed blade cuts cleanly into the soil, while the larger head also makes it highly effective for breaking and turning ground when preparing beds.
Hand-forged and sharpened on both sides, it is built for accurate, controlled work and holds its edge well through repeated use. It can also be used for separating smaller perennials, making it a genuinely versatile tool in the garden.
Its reputation is well established, used by professional gardeners at the Keukenhof gardens in the Netherlands for planting millions of bulbs each season, a strong reflection of its reliability in real working conditions.
A simple, hard-working tool that continues to earn its place as one of the most trusted planting trowels available, our customers love it!

Fantastic customer service which is rare these days. It’s a present for my wife (myself too). Beautiful looking product, clearly well made. Very much looking forward to using this product.

Best I’ve Ever Owned
I have several garden trowels but this has quickly become my favourite. It is sturdy and well built as are all Sneeboer tools. It is perfectly weighted and the longer handle makes it extremely versatile. I have just bought another in case I mislay it, which I frequently do in the garden, as I’d be lost without it. Superb design and the best I have ever owned.

Gift for new home
I bought this trowel as my daughter is a huge fan of Monty Don and as this is the one he uses, she will love it. It’s a beast of a trowel! I’m looking forward to trying it out too as it’s so different to the normal shaped trowels.

Sneerboer planting trowel
This was a last minute Christmas purchase, after my wife mentioned she would like one.
I ordered on Sunday, and received an email from Joy on Monday, saying that the item was being dispatched, but they could not categorically guarantee delivery in time for Christmas. I was given the option of cancelling the order. I decided to chance it, and the lovely quality item was delivered on Tuesday. 👍
A big thank you to Creeper & Knotweed, and in particular Joy, for such great service.
I will be a returning customer.

Beautiful trowel
The Sneerboer trowel is a substantial piece of equipment, beautifully made, not used it yet, it’s Christmas present from a friend. I think I will use it for many years. Great service from Creeper and Knotweed, would definitely order from them again.

The best!
My wife is a keen gardener and took a fancy to a certain gents gardening trowel. A great gift I thought and then was staggered at the price. Still she is worth it and the gift was given. I told her she didn’t have to use it to please me but everytime she gardens she has it with her, she says it cuts rather than pushes through soil. Being Dutch it is perfect for autumn bulb planting. So was it a good deal? A very high price but it feels the best and hopefully will last a lifetime. Out of stock everywhere, “the Monty factor!” this firm had it in and managed the sale as well as you would hope.

Ultimate tool
I have been waiting for ages for this to come back in stock. I was on the Creeper & Knotweed waitlist but it didn’t flag this item up so found it purely by chance. Bought as a Christmas present for my own ‘Monty’. Sturdy construction that should last a lifetime as one would expect from Sneeboer.

WOW!
How refreshing to experience good ‘old fashioned’ customer service.
To find a Sneeboer stockist online and in the UK was a relief. To be able to speak to someone direct about the product and delivery was a bonus. To be updated on delivery time, by telephone, was reassuring. The product speaks for itself. I’m thrilled to have received the trowel in plenty of time to give as a present. Thank you, C&K.

Looks like it will last forever

Impressive product and excellent service
After another online dealer had let me down, originally claiming that the product required was in stock and later telling me that delivery would not be for “up to ten weeks,” I turned to C&K and found them extremely helpful and prompt. I got the trowel four days later – and this despite the order not being placed until after last post prior to the weekend. The trowel was a present for a neighbour and keen gardener with a passion for Monty Don, whose favourite tool it is. I will undoubtedly turn first to C&K for all future gardening requirements.

No complaints. Service good. Delivery super fast. Product very useful. One of the very few stockists who actually have it in stock. Very pleased with it. I will now use Creeper & Knotweed above anyone else for Sneeboer tools. Indeed, I’ve already ordered and had some other products delivered. Thanks.

A must- have for any gardener
I admired this on Gardener’s World and ordered one because I thought its larger size would be useful. In fact, it’s sharp edges and it’s longer handle mean that I use it for everything I can. It works brilliantly as a mini spade and is so easy to work with. Every gardener needs one.
